The library catalog now has student-written book reviews. There are two kinds of reviews, a “Star” review and a “Comment” review. In a Star review, a book can receive from one to five stars (1. Poor, 2. Fair, 3. OK, 4. Good, 5. Awesome). A comment review is a short paragraph describing why the reviewer did, or did not, like the book. All reviews show the reviewer’s name.
If you are in the catalog and looking at a book that has reviews, you can see an average of the Star ratings for the book. To see the Comment reviews, you need to go to the “Details” page for the book and click on the word “Reviews” (underlined in blue).
If you want to write a book review, you must log in to the catalog. Be sure to follow these guidelines if you want your review to be published:
1. Read the entire book before you write a review.
2. Use proper written English (including capitals and periods, but no ALL CAPS).
3. Use correct spelling.
4. Do not use phone texting abbreviations (such as “lol” and “L8tr”)
5. If you write a comment review, be sure to say why you did, or did not, like the book. If you just want to say, “This book was good,” give it 4 stars and leave the Comment box empty.

The South Davis Junior High Library Media Center will be open before and after school starting on Tuesday, September 2nd. We will not be open during lunch for several more weeks. Because of teacher meetings, we are never open after school on Fridays.
Please do not attempt to use the library computers before you have turned in your Acceptable Use Agreement and your English class has had their Computer Center orientation day.
